    Impact of Penetration Strategy on the Performance of Manufacturing Industry in North West Nigeria

    Years of outdated infrastructure, inconsistent policy, political economy in business regulation, bad pricing, advertising, and product quality, as well as low or no access to finance by most entrepreneurs have plagued Nigeria’s industrial sector, notably that of the country’s North-West, for years. The manufacturing sector in North West Nigeria is not operating at its peak potential, despite the emphasis on penetration strategy (pricing, product, and promotion). The study’s objective was to ascertain how penetration strategy affects the performance of the industrial sector in North-West Nigeria. Surveys were used as the primary method of the study’s investigation. 81 people made up the study’s population and sample size. The preferred statistical technique used in the study was multiple regression, and the respondents’ responses to a questionnaire were used to gather the study’s data. According to the findings, the penetration strategy’s price (PRI and PROM = 0.02 + 0.14 and 0.02 +1.71) and product (PROD = 0.2 - 1.30) components have a significant impact on the performance (effectiveness) of the manufacturing sector in North West Nigeria, both positively and negatively. The study advises the manufacturing sector in North-West Nigeria to continually altering price and promotion strategies to improve performance because doing so is an efficient way to draw in new clients. This is necessary for the market penetration plan to be implemented effectively. Spend more energy and time on a promotion to raise brand awareness. Due to this unfavourable impact, employ an efficient marketing plan that will raise product awareness in such places.

    Entrepreneurial Training Needs: An Imperative for Business Performance among Women Entrepreneurs in South-Eastern Nigeria

    This study assesses the impact of entrepreneurial training needs among women entrepreneurs in Southeast Nigeria. The study employed exploratory research design and primary data was collected using copies of structured questionnaire from 360 sample respondents. The data collected was analysed using spearman’s rank correlation and multiple regression analysis. The research findings revealed that bookkeeping training needs and Credit recovery training needs emerged as a significant factor in enhancing the performance of women entrepreneurs. On the other hand, access to finance training needs had a highly significant negative impact on the performance of women entrepreneurs. Based on the findings, the study recommends that Government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other relevant stakeholders should collaborate to provide comprehensive and accessible bookkeeping, access to finance and credit recovery training to women entrepreneurs. This will enable them to develop effective financial management skills, make informed decisions, and improve overall business performance.

    Impact of Performance Appraisal Fairness on Employee Productivity in Nigerian Federal Regulatory Agencies

    In recent times, and in light of the global economic downturn, there have been calls for accountability and improved efficiency in the Nigerian public sector. The recently announced implementation of performance appraisal system across the entire federal civil service has highlighted the need for a review of the practice of performance appraisal in the public sector given the typical political influence that permeates most organizations in the sector. Drawing upon Equity Theory, this study examines the impact of performance appraisal fairness on employee productivity in Nigerian federal regulatory agencies, with emphasis on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). A descriptive survey research design was adopted, with primary data collected from staff of NAFDAC using a five-point Likert scale model questionnaire. Correlation and regression techniques were used to analyze the data which was collected through non probability quota sampling. The result revealed that interactional, procedural and distributive fairness in performance appraisal were statistically significant and positively influenced employees’ productivity in NAFDAC. Thus, the study recommends that considering the planned implementation of performance appraisal system across the entire federal civil service, government should design performance appraisal systems that will appropriately address these constructs to improve efficiency, accountability and productivity of the public sector.

    Impact of Project Cost Control on the Financial Performance of the Nigerian Construction Industry

    The success of any construction project largely depends on the ability to manage project costs effectively. However, cost control in the Nigerian construction industry is characterized by numerous issues such as inadequate planning, poor communication, lack of accountability, and corruption. This conceptual review aims to examine the current state of project cost control in the Nigerian construction industry, identify the key factors affecting cost control, and provide insights into possible solutions to these challenges. The Nigerian construction industry has been plagued with cost overruns, delays, and poor project performance, which have led to a significant waste of resources and financial loss. The findings of this review will be useful to stakeholders in the construction industry, including project managers, policymakers, and researchers, and will help to improve the cost management practices in the Nigerian construction industry. The study reveals that ineffective cost control strategies, poor project planning, and inadequate monitoring and control systems are major issues affecting project cost control in Nigeria. The review also highlights the need for a shift towards more proactive and integrated cost control approaches, as well as the adoption of emerging technologies in project cost control. Ultimately, this study provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by project managers in controlling project costs in the Nigerian construction industry and offers recommendations for improving project cost control practices.

    Effect of Communication Pattern on the Construction Project Success in North Central, Nigeria

    Over the years, several projects in the Nigerian construction industry have failed to meet various indicators of project success due to communication breakdown among construction project stakeholders in Nigeria. In this regard, communication pattern was considered as a determinant of construction project success in Nigeria. The study adopted the quantitative research approach and survey research design. The population of the study was project managers and a sample size of 344 was determined while a questionnaire was distributed to project managers within northcentral, Nigeria to collect data. Data collected were analysed with inferential statistical techniques. The study found that chain pattern communication significantly impacts construction project success. Similarly, wheel pattern communication significantly influenced the construction project’s success while circle pattern of communication also significantly impacted the construction project’s success. It was concluded that the three communication patterns determine construction project success in north-central, Nigeria. Therefore, project managers should be mindful of these communication patterns to achieve timely construction projects without compromising quality. The study recommends the adoption of all three communication patterns in the life of every construction project.

    Digital Marketing Strategies And Consumers’ Purchase Behaviour In Selected Online Shops In Abuja Metropolis

    Technological growth and development have brought an era of e-commerce in goods, and services mostly via the internet in every economy, leading to the growth of online shopping. Despite the rapid evolution of online shopping, the lack of comprehensive insights into the specific consumer purchase behaviour. Hence, this study investigated the effect of digital marketing strategies on consumer purchase behaviour in selected online shops in FCT, Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted. The population comprised 8 million Federal Capital Territory (FCT, Abuja) online buyers with a sample size of 1384 using Krejcie and Morgan (1970) table. Data was collected using a valid and reliable questionnaire with a Cronbach alpha coefficient ranging from 0.820 to 0.942. Data were analysed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings revealed that digital marketing strategies had a significant effect on consumer purchase behaviour of selected online shops in FCT, Nigeria. The study concluded that digital marketing strategies had a significant influence on consumer purchase behaviour in FCT, Nigeria. The study therefore recommended that the management of online shops in FCT, Nigeria should go into building a strong online brand presence and engagement to drive consumer purchasing behavior and the utilization of data ana lytics to understand consumer behavior and optimize digital marketing efforts.

    Conflict Management and Employee’s Motivation Among Frontline Staff in Abuja Hotels

    The hospitality industry heavily relies on frontline staff in hotels to provide exceptional service to guests. However, these employees often encounter conflicts stemming from guest interactions, team dynamics, and organizational policies. Effective conflict management is crucial for maintaining service quality and employee satisfaction. Therefore, understanding the factors that motivate frontline staff is essential for organizational success. This study aims to investigate the relationship between conflict resolution strategies and employee motivation among frontline staff in Abuja hotels. The methodology involves adopting and designing a structured survey questionnaire to collect data from diverse frontline employees in three selected Hotels in Abuja. The study will explore their conflict experiences, preferred resolution strategies, and motivational factors. By analysing the data, the study hopes to identify dominant conflict management approaches and understand what motivates these employees. Potential findings may reveal correlations between conflict management styles and service quality. Based on these insights, the research anticipates recommending tailored training programs, recognition initiatives, and policy adjustments to enhance conflict resolution practices and boost employee motivation. Ultimately, improving conflict management and motivation can lead to better service quality and increased guest loyalty in Abuja hotels. Further research will be needed to expand on the study findings

    Conflict Management Strategies and Organisational Performance

    Many organizations in Nigeria are currently grappling with task, relationship, and process related conflict. This ongoing struggle is consuming valuable organizational time and resources. If not effectively managed, these conflicts have the potential to escalate, resulting in significant human and financial costs. This study, therefore, centres on evaluating how conflict management strategies influence organizational performance, using the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) as a case study. The objectives of this study are to determine the relationship between conflict management strategies—specifically, avoidance strategy, collaboration strategy, compromising strategy, and accommodation strategy—and organizational performance. The study reviewed relevant theoretical and empirical literature, drawing its theoretical framework from contingency theory. The research design employed a survey research technique, with a close-ended questionnaire serving as the principal instrument for data collection. Utilizing Taro Yamane's formula, the established sample size for this study included 235 staff members of FERMA. Hypotheses were tested using regression analysis as the selected statistical method. The study found a significant positive relationship between organizational performance and all the examined conflict management strategies, namely avoidance strategy, collaboration strategy, accommodation strategy, and compromising strategy. In light of the study's results, it is recommended that managers consider employing the identified conflict management techniques due to their demonstrated effectiveness in effectively handling conflicts within organizational settings.

    Behavioural Factors Effect on Investors' Investment Performance

    Behavioural finance theory posited that the actions of individual investors have demonstrated that people appear to respond to and perceive the same information differently, generating psychological biases that are defined as Behavioural Factors. It is against this backdrop that this study empirically examines the effect of behavioural factors on investment performance. This study examines behavioural factors (Heuristics, Prospects, Herding, and Market) that influence stock investors’ performance in Nigeria’s capital market. Three hundred and eighty-four (384) respondents were sampled by an online survey method through a questionnaire from active investors using the top ten brokerage firms in Nigeria. Data were examined and analyzed by STATA software using the structural equation model technique (SEM) as the statistical tool. The data revealed a considerable positive link between behavioural factors indicators and investment performance. The study, therefore, recommends that NSE should continuously share information, and train the investors, which is geared towards positively influencing investment decisions. Through this information, investors will be in a position to make wise investment decisions. NSE should also evaluate the influences of prior events in relation to the specific counter under investigation. More so the effect of the learning process should be clearly evaluated to ensure that there is maximum benefit for all parties involved in selling and buying a security share.

    Market and Operational Risk Impact on Quoted Deposit Money Banks’ Financial Performance in Nigeria

    The rising importance of market and operational risk to controlling financial risks inherent in Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) in Nigeria remains integral to their financial performances. Thus, this study assesses the impact of market and operational risk on DMB performance in Nigeria. Eight (8) years of data between 2015 and 2023 retrieved from the published annual reports of thirteen (13) DMBs were applied for this study. The analysis includes descriptive statistics and inferential statistics of correlation and panel regression for this study. The outcome of this study posits that the variables MRSK and OPSK have an impact of approximately 66%, 61%, and 65% on ROA for the pooled effect model, fixed effect model, and random effect model, respectively while their impact on EPS shows an impact of about 70%, 74% and 73% correspondingly for all the scenarios applied indicating that MRSK and OPSK are positive and negative predictors respectively. This study concluded that there has been a significant impact of both the MRSK and OPSK on EPS and ROA for the pooled, fixed and random effect model respectively for the period under review. This study recommended that management should prioritise implementing cost management measures to reduce the ratio of operating expenditures, which will ultimately result in improved profit margins. If the bank does not aggressively address recurrent modest losses in its daily operations, which are often caused by its inability to utilise its fixed costs effectively, its demise is inevitable
